The Very Beginning

In 1899, our founder, Ichitaro Kanie begins to grow tomatoes and other non-native vegetables in Japan.
1899

Our First Factory

Kagome produces the first tomato sauce in Japan.
1903

The Kagome Brand

We developed a timeless brand name that we are still proud of today!
1983

Kagome USA established

Kagome USA is established in Los Banos, California. The first wholly owned subsidiary overseas.
1989

Acquisition of Kagome Foods Inc

This acquisition created new capabilities in dip cups, pouch sauces, margarines and buttery spreads.
2007

Kagome Australia Joins The Kagome Family

Kagome begins to produce an Australian tomato product range from local farms near Echuca Victoria. Kagome processes Beetroot for the first time.
2010

HIT in Portugal Becomes A Subsidiary

Kagome begins growing and producing in Portugal.
2012

Installation of the Apollo Evaporator at Kagome Australia.

The installation significantly improved Kagome Australia's efficiency in processing tomatoes.
2013

Started carrot harvesting and processing .

Kagome can now produce carrot concentrate for export into Japan and ASEAN.
2014

Commissioning of Foodservice Plant.

Commenced the manufacture of value add tomato based sauces in 1-6kg pouches.
2015

Kagome Opens Global R&D Centre in USA

Kagome opens the Global Food Service Innovation Centre in San Carlos USA.
2016

Introduced RFID tracking for product traceability.

Kagome Australia has the unique ability to trace production of tomato and carrot products back to the farm it was grown.
2017

Commissioning of Powder Plant

Commenced the manufacture of NinjinFibre (Carrot Fibre) powder and LycoFibre (Tomato Skin) powder
